The Housing Ministry announced on Friday that it has taken action against a staff member whose negligence led to the Ministry missing a hearing scheduled by the Information Commissioner’s Office (iCom).
iCom revealed on Thursday that the Ministry was fined MVR 350 after failing to respond to an information request under the Right to Information Act and for not attending a hearing related to the case on November 7.
In a statement, the Housing Ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring transparency by prioritizing timely responses to information requests. The Ministry acknowledged the oversight and confirmed that the responsible staff member has been penalized according to civil service regulations.
Additionally, the Ministry stated it is actively working on improving its procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
