Malé City kicked off their Gold Cup campaign with an impressive 4-0 win against Thimarafushi in their opening match. The team, featuring several first-division players, scored twice in each half to secure the victory.
The scoring began with defender Hussain Shuaib’s header, assisted by Khaleel Jamal. Ismail Wifag (Isse) doubled the lead soon after. Late in the game, substitute Ahnaf Mohamed Thasneem (Nafko) scored the third goal with another header in the 88th minute, followed by Khaleel Jamal’s fourth goal a minute later. Jamal narrowly missed a second goal when Thimarafushi captain Mujuthaz Mohamed (Mujey) made a crucial save.
Malé City’s squad includes captain Rilwan Waheed (Riley), alongside prominent players like Shaifulla Ibrahim, Ahmed Maish Rasheed (Maai) of TC Sports Club, and Valencia’s captain Hussain Sufiaan (Soofi).
Thimarafushi’s lineup featured key players such as United Victory’s Shanaan Rashaad and Abdulla Junaid (Jenney) from Buru Sports, along with Abdulla Ziyaan.
