President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that all initiatives outlined in his presidential pledges will commence within the next two years.
Speaking during his visit to Thoddoo in the Alifu Alifu and Kaafu atolls, the President explained that some projects were delayed this year due to the budget approved by the previous administration. However, he assured residents that 2025 and 2026 will be focused on delivering his campaign promises, including the construction of harbors, schools, sports facilities, waste management systems, and school renovations.
President Muizzu emphasized that no island will face discrimination in the allocation of services.
On November 27, the parliament approved a national budget of MVR 56.6 billion for the upcoming year, an increase of MVR 1.6 billion compared to 2024. While the budget has been passed, it does not specify the projects planned for individual islands. Including the supplementary budget, this year’s total budget stands at MVR 55 billion.
