The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has opened submissions for its annual Frame by MATATO art competition. This event celebrates Maldivian creativity and cultural heritage through the lens of tourism.
Artists of all ages are invited to submit works such as drawings, paintings, sculptures, 3D models, and installations between December 10, 2024, and January 20, 2025.
This year’s theme, “The Maldivian Mystic,” focuses on showcasing Maldivian folklore through art, marking the first exhibition of its kind. Ten entries from each age group will be selected for a grand exhibition at the National Art Gallery on February 8, 2025.
For the first time, winners will be determined through public voting, alongside evaluations by a panel of local and international judges.
The competition is supported by key organizations, including the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, and the National Centre for the Arts.
