The Maldives saw a notable rise in international flight arrivals during the first ten months of 2024, according to the Maldives Monetary Authority’s (MMA) November statistics.
By October, 13,671 international flights had arrived, a 653-flight increase from the 13,018 recorded during the same period in 2023. This growth includes both scheduled flights, which rose from 11,975 to 12,565, and general aviation flights—charters and private jets—which increased from 1,043 to 1,106.
The surge in air traffic aligns with a rise in tourist arrivals. By December 17, 1.9 million tourists had visited the Maldives, surpassing the 1.8 million recorded during the same timeframe last year.
With a goal of attracting 2 million tourists in 2024, the Maldives needs 58,805 more arrivals to reach this target.
