MTCC Reports Significant Progress on Izzudeen Jetty Renovation

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has confirmed substantial progress in the renovation of the Izzudeen Jetty, with a major portion of the structure already completed. Construction of the roof is currently underway as part of the project.

The Izzudeen Jetty, a culturally and functionally important landmark, serves as an official docking point for both locals and tourists. Renovation work began in May last year, following heightened public concern over delays in repairs.

MTCC officials have stressed the importance of addressing these delays, noting that restoration efforts are being conducted with meticulous attention to quality and timeliness.

The lack of public access to the jetty during the renovation has been a concern, particularly given its popularity as a tourist attraction. However, the site remains closed to visitors during construction.

To ensure the project is completed promptly, MTCC has adopted a 24-hour work schedule, with construction teams operating in two shifts around the clock.
