Moomina Waheed Appointed as Vice President of HRCM

The Maldives Parliament has approved the appointment of Moomina Waheed, a member of the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM), as the commission’s Vice President.

The position became vacant after the resignation of Dr. Ahmed Adhuham, the previous Vice President. Moomina’s appointment was unanimously supported by all MPs who participated in the vote.

Moomina has been a member of HRCM since 2020 and previously served as the Acting Secretary of the commission. She holds a Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Sydney and another Master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratization (Asia Pacific). Her professional background includes working as a Development Consultant at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The current members of HRCM include Commission President Mariyam Muna, Aminath Shifa-ath Abdul Razzaq, Samau Ahmed Najeeb, and Ismail Habeeb.
