The streaming platform Baiskoafu is set to premiere Raiha, a 12-episode drama series produced by Sun Siyam Media, next Thursday. This marks Sun Siyam Media’s first commercial drama production.
An agreement between Sun Siyam Media and Baiskoafu to release Raiha was finalized on August 28. Baiskoafu unveiled the official trailer last Thursday, generating significant anticipation.
The series tells a love story and features two acclaimed Maldivian stars, Ali Azim (Dhon Ayya) as Yanir and Aminath Noora as the titular character, Raiha. It also includes Ali Usham (Dhona) in an unconventional role and introduces a new talent, Laisha Latheef, who plays Zara. Other key roles include Ahmed Ifdhau as Yafiu and Ibrahim Fairooz as Fahudh.
The trailer was first launched during a ceremony held in July at OTP by Solite. Character posters have also been released to build excitement for the show.
Directed by renowned Maldivian filmmaker Ali Rasheed (Golha Ayya), Raiha is supported by the cinematography of SSTV’s senior cameraman Mohamed Shaan and a screenplay written by Aminath Rinaza (Rina). Post-production was also overseen by Ali Rasheed.
The drama was filmed in M. Mulah, with 60% of the cast comprising local residents, adding a unique community-driven touch to the production.
