The Bar Council of Maldives has announced that 57% of candidates successfully passed the October 2024 Bar Examination, meeting the required competency standards for entry into the legal profession.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Council detailed that 43% of examinees did not meet the passing criteria. Notably, 14 candidates earned top marks, showcasing exceptional legal aptitude.
The Bar Examination assessed candidates across six core areas of law, aiming to evaluate their competency and uphold the integrity of the legal profession. This initiative forms part of the Bar Council’s broader efforts to enhance the quality of legal practice in the Maldives, ensuring that new entrants possess the requisite skills and knowledge to serve the public effectively.
The October 2024 exam was conducted with support from USAID and the American Bar Association, underscoring a commitment to fostering a robust and ethical legal community.
