Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin Concludes Tenure in the Maldives

Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin has completed her tenure in the Maldives, marking the end of a significant chapter in Maldives-China relations. As part of her farewell, Ambassador Wang met with both the President and Vice President to express her gratitude and bid them goodbye.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Ambassador reflected on her three-year term, highlighting key milestones achieved during her time in office. She thanked the Maldivian government and people for their support, which she credited as instrumental in fulfilling her responsibilities effectively.

Ambassador Wang underscored several significant projects that progressed under her watch, including advancements at Velana International Airport, the expansion of social housing projects, infrastructure improvements such as the SinaMale’ Bridge and road development in the Male’ area, as well as plans for a 100-bed hospital in ViliMale’.

One of the most notable highlights of her tenure was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Maldives in 2022. Reflecting on this enduring partnership, she wrote, “Over the past five decades, China and the Maldives have consistently respected and supported each other, setting an example of mutual respect, equal treatment, and win-win cooperation between nations, regardless of their size.”

Ambassador Wang’s departure signifies the end of a fruitful diplomatic chapter, marked by strengthened ties and collaborative progress between the two countries.
