The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has denied allegations related to the procurement of an office building for the Agency, stating that a formal complaint has been lodged with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the matter.
The allegations, which surfaced on social media, claimed that a payment of MVR 34.8 million for the procurement of an office building was made to someone other than the building’s rightful owner.
In a statement, NSPA refuted these claims, clarifying that the transaction was conducted transparently between the Finance Ministry and the Agency in full compliance with regulations. The statement emphasized that no third party was involved and that all relevant information was publicly accessible.
NSPA condemned attempts to undermine the Agency’s integrity and cast doubt on its role in ensuring social welfare. It reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in all its operations.
The Agency confirmed it had submitted a formal complaint to the ACC, urging an independent investigation to uncover the facts and take appropriate action. A letter signed by NSPA President Heena Waleed was sent to ACC President Adam Shamil, requesting a swift investigation and the prompt disclosure of findings.
