EyeCare Hospital has extended its outreach program to Noonu Atoll, offering vital eye screening services to residents. This initiative is part of the hospital’s ongoing effort, launched last year, to provide accessible eye care across the Maldives.
The camp began on October 28, initially covering several islands in Shaviyani Atoll, including Feydhoo, Foakaidhoo, Kanditheemu, Komandoo, Lhaimagu, Maaun’goodhoo, Kendhikulhudhoo, and Milandhoo. Since November 19, the focus has shifted to Noonu Atoll, with visits already conducted in Velidhoo and Holhudhoo.
The next stops are Landhoo, where the camp will run from November 28 to 30, followed by Maafaru from December 1 to 3.
Services offered at the camp include screenings for cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal issues, along with the option to order prescription glasses. Appointments can be arranged through the Health Centres on each island.
EyeCare Hospital emphasizes that this initiative is designed to assist individuals unable to travel to Malé for medical services and to raise awareness of eye health nationwide. The program has already reached numerous atolls, with plans for further expansions in the coming year.
These camps are organized in partnership with local Health Centres and Regional Hospitals, ensuring comprehensive care and accessibility for all participants.
