A Japanese Member of Parliament, who was on vacation at a resort in the Maldives, has tragically passed away.
According to Maldivian police, they received a report at 8:33 AM yesterday about a 70-year-old Japanese tourist found unresponsive in the sea while snorkeling. Further details regarding the incident have not yet been disclosed.
Japanese media outlets have reported that the deceased individual is Toshiyuki Adachi, a ruling party MP. However, the Japanese parliament has not issued an official statement confirming this.
The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also refrained from commenting on the matter at this time.
