Maldives Achieves Historic Milestone of 2 Million Tourist Arrivals

The Maldives has reached a significant milestone in its tourism history by welcoming 2 million tourists in a single year for the first time.

  • 2 Millionth Tourist: An Australian woman visiting with her husband and two children was recognized as the 2 millionth tourist.
  • Awards and Gifts: The family received a six-day stay at Saii Lagoon Maldives and special gifts from key organizations, including MMPRC, MACL, Maldives Immigration, and Maldives Customs Service.

  • 2023 Goal Achieved: The government set a target of 2 million arrivals for this year and successfully met it through extensive efforts.
  • Future Target: With the completion of the new VIA terminal expected next year, the government aims to welcome 2.2 million tourists in 2025.
