STELCO has reported that power outages occurred in several areas of Hulhumale’ last night due to damage to a high-voltage cable during construction work on Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation flats.
The power outage affected Hiyaa Flat Towers 9 to 16, MPL flats, and parts of Hulhumale’ Phase 1, starting at 11:00 PM. Electricity was fully restored by 12:15 AM after three transformers in Hulhumale’ Phase 1 were re-energized.
In a social media update, STELCO explained the outage was caused by damage to the high-voltage cable and urged workers operating near the electricity network to exercise caution. The company emphasized the importance of avoiding such incidents to prevent inconvenience to the public.
