RDC Corruption Investigation: Moosa and Yasir’s Passports Seized

As part of the ongoing investigation into corruption within the Road Development Corporation (RDC) during the previous Maldivian Democratic Party-led administration, authorities have seized the passports of former RDC Managing Director Moosa Ali Manik (commonly known as Mookey) and former Chief Financial Officer Yasir Hassan, effectively imposing a travel ban on both individuals.

On Thursday, police conducted searches at the apartments of Moosa, his wife, and Yasir, confiscating several electronic devices.

According to a police statement issued yesterday, both individuals have been officially informed of the travel restrictions.

The investigation was prompted by a notification from the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Maldives Monetary Authority, which flagged suspicious transactions totaling MVR 13 million deposited into Yasir’s account. Police initiated the inquiry late last year.

On November 14, just three days before the previous administration concluded its term, police raided RDC offices and retrieved key documents related to the case.

Both Moosa and Yasir have denied all allegations of corruption.
