Winds: Speeds of 19-24 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph.
Advice: MET urges the public to exercise caution, particularly when traveling by sea.
The adverse weather is expected to continue for the next two days, with the southern atolls likely to face the most severe conditions. This intensified weather is attributed to a storm system in the Bay of Bengal, which has developed into a cyclone.
This period also coincides with the transition to the northeast monsoon (dry season), typically starting in December. During this time, rough seas and frequent rains are common.
