The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced a significant power network upgrade scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
As part of this upgrade, STELCO will energize a 132 kV High Voltage Substation in Hulhumalé Phase 2, a critical step in enhancing the capacity and reliability of the electricity grid.
This process may lead to temporary power outages lasting up to an hour in certain areas of Malé and Hulhumalé during the specified time. STELCO stated that these interruptions are necessary to ensure the successful completion of the energization process, which is vital for modernizing the power infrastructure and meeting the increasing energy demands in the Greater Malé region.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to prepare for possible disruptions and take any necessary precautions. STELCO has apologized for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during this essential maintenance work.
