Housing Data Secure, Backed Up in Cloud: Dr. Muththalib

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has assured the public that housing-related data remains secure despite the fire that damaged buildings housing three key ministries on Thursday.

During a press conference at Dharubaaruge, Dr. Muththalib addressed concerns about the loss of flat allocation lists and other critical housing records. He confirmed that initial assessments show the majority of this data had been safely backed up.

“All public housing data and housing loan records are securely stored in the cloud,” the minister stated. “While rumors suggest some government data may have been lost, investigations indicate that most of it is intact and backed up. We are confident that no critical housing information has been compromised.”

Dr. Muththalib also announced that services offered by the affected ministries will resume tomorrow from temporary offices set up at Dharubaaruge.

The fire, which started at the Housing Ministry around 6:30 AM on Thursday, quickly spread to the Construction and Environment Ministries. Although the blaze was brought under control after four hours, it caused extensive damage to the buildings.
