A man was rescued from the waters near Dharumavantha Hospital in Male’ City on Wednesday afternoon, according to the police.
The individual, identified as a Maldivian male, was found injured just outside the seawall. He was transported to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where doctors reported that he had sustained head injuries.
Videos of the rescue captured a large crowd gathered at the scene, with police and civilians working together to bring the injured man to shore on a stretcher. He appeared conscious in the footage, moving his hands during the rescue.
Police later stated that the man is believed to have been injured after being struck by a vessel. The incident is currently under investigation.
