In a collaborative effort to boost the Maldives’ presence in emerging tourism markets, the National Hotels and Guesthouses Association (NHGAM), the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) are gearing up to showcase the tropical paradise in Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The initiative, branded as the I AM Maldives Roadshow, is scheduled to take place from December 17 to 20, 2024. The event will span two key cities: Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. These locations were chosen due to the growing interest in the Maldives as a vacation destination among travelers from these regions.
According to a statement from the Guesthouse Association, the roadshow aims to spotlight the Maldives as a premier travel destination, catering to a diverse range of travelers—from luxury seekers to budget-conscious tourists. The event aligns with a broader strategy to expand the Maldives’ global tourism footprint by tapping into new and promising markets.
A total of 18 participants, including representatives from Maldivian resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and travel agencies, will attend the roadshow. They will showcase the unique experiences that the Maldives has to offer, such as overwater villas, pristine beaches, rich marine biodiversity, and cultural heritage.
This initiative is part of an ongoing effort by Maldivian tourism stakeholders to diversify their visitor base and strengthen ties with international travel industries. By engaging with industry professionals and potential travelers in Azerbaijan and Georgia, the Maldives hopes to solidify its reputation as one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations.
