Maldivian Airlines Hosts Tree Planting Event

As part of the government’s Five Million Tree Planting Program, Maldivian Airlines held a tree-planting event yesterday in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

The event was attended by Maldivian Airlines’ Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas, Deputy Managing Director Ali Saleem, and several airline employees, along with senior officials from the Environment Ministry.

During the launch ceremony, Deputy MD Ali Saleem emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental conservation. He highlighted Maldivian’s ongoing efforts to reduce single-use plastics, with the ultimate goal of eliminating their use entirely.

Saleem also noted that while the current initiative began in Hulhumalé Phase 2, the airline plans to expand the program nationwide, with the involvement of staff stationed in various regions.

The Housing Development Corporation collaborated with Maldivian Airlines to make the tree-planting event a success. This initiative underscores the airline’s dedication to supporting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
