Maldivian badminton talents, Laiba Ahmed Mahloof and Kiyaan Adil Mohamed, are proudly representing the Maldives at the prestigious Yonex Polish International Festival, part of the Badminton Europe Junior Calendar. Competing in the under-13 and under-15 categories, respectively, these young athletes are showcasing their skills on a prominent international platform.
This opportunity is a major stepping stone for both players. Laiba, who has been competing internationally since last year, recently achieved her eighth international medal in Lithuania, underscoring her potential as one of the Maldives’ rising stars in badminton. Kiyaan, only 14 years old, has also demonstrated his skill with international experience, including participation in the South Asian Regional Junior Championship organized by Badminton Asia.
The five-day festival, which brings together over 140 junior athletes from five different countries, offers Laiba and Kiyaan valuable experience in high-level competition. Their participation highlights the Maldives’ commitment to developing junior sports talent and positions the nation on the global badminton stage.
With each international tournament, these young athletes bring recognition to Maldivian sports, inspiring future talent and potentially increasing support for badminton and youth sports in the Maldives. This exposure not only benefits their personal development but also promotes the Maldives as a nation investing in its youth and aspiring athletes.
