Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq claimed the gold medal at the Botswana International Badminton Series by defeating her younger sister, Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq, in the singles final.
Representing the Maldives under Revival Sports, Nabaaha emerged victorious with a 2-1 set win. She narrowly won the first set 22-20, lost the second 21-14 to Nabeeha, and secured the deciding set 21-15.
This final was a historic milestone as it marked the first time two Maldivian athletes faced off in a World Badminton Federation-recognized tournament final.
Nabaaha is scheduled to compete again today in the mixed doubles final, teaming up with Zayaan Zaki.
