The National Hotels and Guest House Association of Maldives (NHGAM), in partnership with Visit Maldives and MATATO, successfully wrapped up the “I AM Maldives Roadshow” from December 17 to 20, 2024. The event was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and Tbilisi, Georgia, with the goal of building new partnerships and boosting the visibility of Maldivian tourism in these growing markets.
The roadshow attracted over 300 travel professionals who participated in dynamic B2B sessions with 18 exhibitors from the Maldives, showcasing various sectors of the tourism industry.
NHGAM President Abdulla Nasheed expressed delight at the event’s success, emphasizing the overwhelming interest from local travel partners. He highlighted the strong potential for growth in community island tourism within Azerbaijan and Georgia, driven by this enthusiasm.
The roadshow featured informative presentations, including travel connectivity updates from Azerbaijan Airlines and Air Arabia, and destination showcases by Visit Maldives. Over 40 exclusive holiday packages, valued at more than USD 50,000, were promoted, focusing on community island tourism. Giveaways were also distributed to help travel agents gain a deeper understanding of the Maldives’ offerings.
NHGAM Vice President Ahmed Waheed underlined the strategic significance of the roadshow in expanding the Maldives’ tourism footprint. He noted that it not only fostered connections but also created new opportunities for local island tourism, bringing tangible benefits to Maldivian hotels and guesthouses.
